Nini is a native of Ashdod City but moved to Rishon Lezion when she was 11. As a child, she was drawn to all forms of art and eventually studied 20th century art. Also a music lover, Nini continues to sing, play the guitar and compose songs. For the past 20 years, Nini has brought her love of art to the home with a career as an interior designer.

Together with her husband, Uriel, they raised two wonderful children, Ayelet and Ofer. As her children explored their world, she captured their inquisitive personalities on paper. Although those scribbled notes were crumpled and cast aside and Nini juggled her busy life, Uriel stumbled upon these treasures one day and began collecting them; carefully transcribing them one by one into a notebook. People asked Urial to publish the collection, but Nini refused, saying "these scribbles are a family matter."

Then she met Miri and her drawings - and loved what she saw. One day, Nini asked Miri to illustrate one of her 'scribbles.' At first, Miri drew lovely, pink-cheeked children...a site that was far away from the illustrations Nini had envisioned for her songs. So Miri said, "you tell me what you imagined when you wrote this, and I will illustrate that." Slowly, with lots of patience and even more talent, Miri brought Nini's imagination to life. From scribbles to this published book, our 'family matters' are now yours to enjoy as well.

Miri Buchman
Miri began her drawing journey in the Israeli army, sitting with all of her dying plants, trying to keep herself awake, covering the walls with her doodles and scribbles.

From there she went to live in Kibbutz Afik, studied photography in Meimad, and continued touring the world.

Upon returning from Holland, she decided it was time to settle down and became 'manager of pushing buttons' (aka 'operator'). This is where she met Nini who caught Miri doodling between phone calls. The rest of that story is history.

While she awaited the right time to publish ths book, Miri married, moved to the USA where she began her profession as a graphic designer, and became Mom to four children within four years. As her children learned both Hebrew and English, she decided it was time to publish this book - for her children and for all the children around the world (ok, maybe all around the world is too big. For now we'll start with America and Israel).

And there you go. The book is here. Enjoy it!

Kristi Grisgby
Kristi grew up right smack in the middle of the U.S.A. - about as far away from Israel as one could possibly be. Yet when Miri asked her if she could help translate Nini's poems from Hebrew to English, the translation came quite naturally.

"The 'wonders of the world' that dance in the minds of our children have no geographic boundaries. The questions are shared no matter what language is spoken, from 'what happened to the dinosaurs?' to 'what's under my bed?!' "

Although she is a marketing professional with an M.B.A., Kristi is also a closet writer...literally. "When Miri asked if I could translate the poems Nini had written, she had no idea that my closet was filled with children's poems and stories that I had written over the years."

Kristi resides in Florida with her husband and two children who provide 'continuous inspiration' to continue writing those poems and stories.
